What
a pleasant surprise to learn that some people at the United Nations –
specifically, its Inter-Parliamentary Union – want to know more about

Revelations of intentional and unintentional use and misuse of consumers’ personal data in 2018 have left people feeling vulnerable and even angry. Debates continue to drive headlines and are gaining in volume and intensity in private companies, legislative halls, regulatory agencies, the media, and homes all over the world about the best way to manage trust and privacy in the digital economy. But there is a paradox between what consumers and their advocates say they want and what we actually do: consumer social media and Internet use remains largely unchanged.March 28, 2019Redwood City
After a long legislative process, the final text of the EU Copyright Directive was cemented last week as trilogue negotiations between the EU Commision, Parliament, and Council came to a close. Here’s why.
The evolution of the directive’s text
O evento de lançamento será realizado no dia 03/04Em 16 de março de 2016, a então presidente Dilma Rousseff sancionou a Lei 13.260/2016, mais conhecida como Lei Antiterrorismo. Michel Bauwens: I very strongly believe this is one of the key solutions for climate change mitigation, and more generally, about creating ‘circular finance’ mechanisms, i.e. rewarding generative, rather than extractive activity. Capitalism rewards extractive activities, but has a great structural difficulty in financing generative impacts. One of the potential solutions are ‘circular finance’ mechanisms, in which positive and generative ‘externalities’ can be recognized, valued and financed by those benefitting from it.
Michel Bauwens: Here is an excellent article on communities from Allen Butcher.

The papers and presentations are done, the awards and appreciation certificates have been handed out, and the boxes are packed and labeled for shipping. NDSS 2019 has come to a successful close. It was a record setting event with over 550 registrations, 89 papers, 36 posters, and four workshops.
