As part of the Frictionless Data for Reproducible Research project, funded by the Sloan Foundation, we have started a Pilot collaboration with the  Data Readiness Group  at the Department of Engineering Science of the University of Oxford; the group will be represented by Dr. Philippe Rocca-Serra, an Associate Member of Faculty. Nessa segunda-feira, dia 20 de julho, foi divulgada a lista de candidaturas aprovadas para a próxima edição do curso EU-South American School on Global Governance, do Centro de Excelência Jean Monnet da FGV Direito Rio (CEJM), financiado pela Comissão Europeia. Em resposta ao COVID-19, a organização do curso optou, no segundo semestre de 2020, pela transmissão digital de todas as aulas, o que atraiu um número recorde de 1397 candidaturas de estudantes de instituições de ensino de todo Brasil e também do exterior.

But for all its beauty, the hills, forests, and remoteness have made it difficult for the community to access quality high-speed Internet – and even cell and radio service.

El proyecto "Cuando el teletrabajo en el Estado se hizo inevitable: Una oportunidad para el análisis y el desarrollo efectivo de esta modalidad laboral en el sector público", encabezado por el profesor Javier Fuenzalida y el investigador Tomás Soto, del Instituto de Asuntos Públicos y del Centro de Sistemas Públicos, analizará los efectos de la implementación de esta medida, comparando la experiencia de aquellas que ya tenían planes piloto, con otras que no contaban con esa experiencia.

Nuevo reporte del monitoreo encabezado por la U.de Chile y el Colegio Médico cuantifica los efectos de los diversos mensajes en la comunicación de riesgo durante la pandemia e identifica las principales plataformas por las que se informa la ciudadanía. Entre las principales propuestas del estudio, se encuentran el llamado a las autoridades a no relajar el tono en medio de la disminucion de casos, aumentar las campañas masivas sobre el coronavirus y buscar fuentes que tengan mayor credibilidad de parte de la ciudadanía.

We may have been in lockdown for the first few months of 2020, but that didn’t stop DERC researchers from reaching across the world to launch several projects to study the impact of a global pandemic from a digital ethnography perspective.

Since mid-April, we’ve been in the field (virtually of course), reaching out to participants, gathering data, and generating some much-needed analysis of the social, workplace, and educational implications of COVID-19.

Hacking the research: Intelligence agencies from the U.S., U.K., and Canada have accused a Russian hacking group of targeting organizations conducting COVID-19 research, the Washington Post reports. The so-called Cozy Bear hacking group is trying to steal vaccine research specifically, the intelligence groups say.

LipoBiocat („Robuste und selektive lipolytische Biokatalysatoren für industrielle Anwendungen“) hat ein Gesamtbudget von über 3,2 Mio. Euro bei einer Laufzeit von drei Jahren. Das Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) fördert das Projekt mit rund 2,9 Mio. Euro.
