Im Juli 2020 wurde über die Anträge der zweiten Ausschreibungsrunde zum Aufbau der „European Universities“ entschieden. Ziel der Initiative ist es, eine neue europäische Generation zusammenzubringen, die in der Lage ist, über Sprachen, Grenzen und Disziplinen hinweg zusammenzuarbeiten, um gesellschaftlichen Herausforderungen und Qualifikationsdefiziten zu begegnen. Die HHU ist am Verbundantrag UNIVERSEH („European Space University for Earth and Humanity“) beteiligt. Sie konnte sich damit gemeinsam mit vier Partnerhochschulen durchsetzen.

The Wikimedia Foundation is extremely concerned about the national security law recently passed in China and implemented in Hong Kong that prohibits a broad range of speech and grants wide-ranging surveillance powers to authorities. This law may have serious implications for protection of the privacy of users on Wikipedia and other projects operated by the Foundation, potentially enabling authorities to request personal user data.
