Con un llamado a que como sociedad "no podemos ser solo espectadores", el Movimiento "Derechos sin Fronteras", conformado por diversas organizaciones sociales e instituciones -entre ellas la Casa de Bello, América Solidaria y la Fundación para la Superación de la Pobreza-, emitió una declaración respecto a la situación de las más de 7 mil personas que conforman la caravana migrante que se dirige desde Centro América a Estados Unidos, y que hoy se encuentra en México.

Nick Wierckx, geboren 1979 in Ossendrecht in den Niederlanden, studierte Biologie an der Universität in Leiden mit dem Schwerpunkt Molekularbiologie. Er promovierte anschließend am niederländischen Forschungsinstitut TNO in enger Kooperation mit der Universität in Delft. Er entwickelte dabei lösungsmitteltolerante Bakterien der Art Pseudomonas putida S12, mit denen Phenol und andere Aromate aus Glukose hergestellt werden können. Als Postdoc forschte er zunächst weiter am TNO, anschließend war er zwei Jahre an einem biotechnologischen  Unternehmen beschäftigt.
