Gorodenkoff/AdobestockThe special research area “Mathematics of Reconstruction in Dynamical and Active Models”, funded by the Austrian Science Fund FWF, was launched in March 2025. Researchers from the University of Klagenfurt, led by Barbara Kaltenbacher (Department of Mathematics), will be contributing their expertise on inverse problems. The aim is to develop new mathematical tools for active, dynamic and model-based imaging modalities.

Pilzinfektionen sind weltweit auf dem Vormarsch. Laut einer Studie der Manchester Fungal Infection Group infizierten sich im Jahr 2022 rund 6,5 Millionen Menschen mit krankheitserregenden Pilzen, rund 3,8 Millionen starben an den Folgen – fast doppelt so viele wie 2012.

Was passiert bei internationalen Verhandlungen? Welche Strategien verfolgen Diplomaten, um Kompromisse zu erzielen? Und wer hat das Zeug zum/zur waschechten Delegierten? Das können junge Menschen bei den ersten Würzburger Model United Nations (WüMUN) herausfinden. Das Mitmachformat bietet Studierenden und Schülerinnen bzw. Schülern ab der 10. Jahrgangsstufe die Gelegenheit, bei nachgestellten internationalen Verhandlungen aktiv zu werden.
