transmediale 2027 invites applications for the Lattice Labs, a series of experimental working groups dedicated to rethinking and testing alternatives to technological monocultures of extraction and surveillance. Building towards the festival, the Lattice Labs introduce a process-based approach to collective learning and knowledge dissemination.
Each Lab is formed by about five participants and guided by an experienced artist or technologist. Together, participants develop a project that is presented and activated through public events during the festival week in Berlin.

Auf der re:publica 2026 diskutieren Josephine B. Schmitt (CAIS), Roland A. Stürz (bidt) und Hannes-Vincent Krause (WI) am 18. Mai 2026 gemeinsam aktuelle empirische Erkenntnisse zu den Folgen von Social-Media-Verboten und sprechen dabei auch direkt mit Jugendlichen über deren Erfahrungen und Perspektiven.
Die Einführung des Verbots in Australien wurde vor allem mit Risiken für die mentale Gesundheit junger Menschen begründet. Besonders die Perspektiven Jugendlicher seien jedoch vor der Entscheidung kaum berücksichtigt worden.

KI liest Keilschrift neu: Meilenstein für die Altorientalistik
In den drei Jahrtausenden vor Christi Geburt blühte im Vorderen Orient eine Hochkultur, die viele Informationen über sich hinterlassen hat: auf Tontafeln, beschrieben in Keilschrift. Bei dieser Art des Schreibens wurden keilförmige Schriftzeichen mit Schreibgriffeln in feuchte Tontafeln gedrückt, die schließlich getrocknet wurden – fertig war ein lange haltbares Schriftstück.
