Congratulations to QUT DMRC’s Chief Investigator Dr Aljosha Karim Schapals who has released a new publication alongside Dr Christian Pentzold from the University of Leipzig called, Media Compass: A Companion to International Media Landscapes, which will be officially released on August 6, 2024. This new publication gives an extensive and inclusive overview of media landscapes, combining country-specific summaries and cross-cutting examinations of the world’s geopolitical regions.

Today, censorship in the US is under severe scrutiny from millions around the world who are witnessing the wave of repression against advocates for Palestinian rights across workspaces and college campuses in America. Internally, however, freedom of expression is considered one of the cornerstones of the country’s legal system. Free speech, as enshrined in the First Amendment of the US constitution, is a guaranteed right and its provision surpasses any legislative authority at the state or federal level.

Ce jour, le professeur émérite de sociologie Guy Rocher, né le 20 avril 1924, célèbre son 100e anniversaire. Le Centre de recherche en droit public (CRDP) souhaite un heureux anniversaire au « sociologue parmi les juristes » !
De 1979 à sa retraite en 2010, Guy Rocher a travaillé au développement de la sociologie du droit à titre de chercheur au CRDP.
