NEW YORK — In a divided opinion, the Fourth Circuit dismissed an appeal brought by the Wikimedia Foundation, which challenges the National Security Agency’s mass interception and searching of Americans’ international internet communications. The American Civil Liberties Union, Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University, and the law firm Cooley LLP represent the Wikimedia Foundation in the litigation, Wikimedia Foundation v. NSA.

Today marks the start of a Heritage Month focused on celebrating the history, culture, and influence of Latinx communities in the United States. 

The official name of the month itself (National Hispanic Heritage Month) is a living example of the power of language — its history and inequities in who controls it, and its impact on the perceptions and identities of people and their communities.

Par décision du Comité exécutif de l’Université de Montréal, il nous fait plaisir d’annoncer que Madame Marie-Philippe Bouchard, présidente directrice générale de TV5 Québec-Canada, a été nommée présidente du Conseil de direction du CRDP, et ce, à partir du 01 septembre 2021.

Ob Neues aus dem Botanischen Garten, dem naturwissenschaftlichen M!nd-Center mit seinen Touch-Science-Experimenten, dem Sportzentrum oder direkt aus dem Institut für Politikwissenschaft und Soziologie – die Julius-Maximilians-Universität (JMU) Würzburg ist mehr als Forschung und Lehre, sie ist ebenso Schnittstelle in die Region. Für die Gesellschaft werden daher Forschungsergebnisse auf der Mainfranken-Messe zwischen dem 25. September und dem 3. Oktober 2021 sichtbar und erlebbar.

The XXXVI Nordic Conference in Law and IT will be hosted by the Norwegian Research Center for Computers and Law on November 9-10, 2021, at Hotel Bristol in Oslo, Norway.

The conference will be devoted to the overarching themes of security, risk management, and rule of law. It will be held in conjunction with the final conference of the research project ‘Security in Internet Governance and Networks: Analysing the Law’ (SIGNAL), funded by the Research Council of Norway and UNINETT Norid AS.

Nous avons le regret de vous informer du décès du professeur Gilles Pépin, survenu le 27 août dernier dans sa 87e année.

Professeur émérite à la Faculté de droit de l’Université de Montréal, Gilles pépin a été directeur du Centre de Recherche en Droit Public de 1969 à 1972. Il a été nommé, en 1981, membre de la Société Royale du Canada.

La académica de la Facultad de Ciencias Físicas y Matemáticas de la U. de Chile recibió la distinción en reconocimiento a su destacada trayectoria en astrofísica, donde ha realizado importantes aportes en temas como la formación de estrellas. "El estímulo por recibir el premio es enorme, sobre todo para seguir haciendo investigación como lo he venido haciendo hasta ahora", señala en esta entrevista. “Ha sido un fin de mes maravilloso, estoy muy agradecida y honrada por este reconocimiento”.
