Immer mehr Krankheitserreger werden unempfindlich gegen antimikrobielle Wirkstoffe wie Antibiotika. Daher müssen ständig neue Wirkstoffe entwickelt werden. Es scheint so, als könne die Menschheit das „Wettrüsten“ gegen die Erreger bald verlieren.
„Die Strategie, ausschließlich die Erreger direkt anzugreifen, wird langfristig nicht ausreichen“, sagt Professor Thomas Rudel, Leiter des Lehrstuhls für Mikrobiologie im Biozentrum der Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU).

Neue Zahlen des Bundeskriminalamtes zeigen: Gewalt in Partnerschaften bleibt in Deutschland auf einem hohen Niveau. 2021 wurden 143.604 Opfer polizeilich erfasst. Das sind zwar drei Prozent weniger als im Jahr davor, doch in den vergangenen fünf Jahren sind die Opferzahlen um insgesamt 3,4 Prozent gestiegen. 80 Prozent der Opfer waren Frauen, die Täter waren meistens Männer (79 Prozent). 113 Frauen und 14 Männer starben infolge der Gewalt.

„Stellen Sie sich vor, dass eine Person an einer schweren Erkrankung mit starken Schmerzen leidet und bald sterben wird.  Würden Sie es befürworten, wenn dieser Person ein tödliches Medikament übergeben wird, das sie selbst einnimmt und an dem sie stirbt?“ Knapp 70 Prozent aller Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer einer repräsentativen Umfrage in Deutschland geben auf diese Frage die Antwort „Ja“. 18,6 Prozent würden sie verneinen. Der Rest sieht sich zu keiner Entscheidung in der Lage.
