In einem Vortrag auf der 8. European Communication Conference im September sprach Gerhard Vowe über die Darstellung von Migrant:innen in der deutschen Medienberichterstattung.
Gerhard Vowe referierte in zwei Vorträgen über Kooperationsprobleme in Forschungsverbünden, etwa das Fairness- oder das Commitmentproblem, und zeigte, welche Lösungsstrategien dafür von den Verantwortlichen entwickelt wurden.

Gehard Vowe erörterte im Mai auf dem Kolloquium des Instituts für Sozialwissenschaften an der HHU, wie individuelle Meinungsbildung und Entscheidungen von Gruppen zu politischen Streitfragen durch Künstliche Intelligenz unterstützt werden können.
Bei dem Diskussionsabend der Katholischen Hochschulgemeinde Düsseldorf hielt Gerhard Vowe im Mai einen Impulsvortrag über die Wahlkampfkommunikation im Superwahljahr 2021 – im Rückblick auf die Landtagswahlkämpfe 2021 und in der Vorausschau auf den Bundestagswahlkampf 2021.

Im Fokus des Online Expert:innengespräch stand die Frage, welche Schwerpunkte im Themenbereich „Demokratie und Staatsführung“ im zukünftigen EU-Rahmenprogramm „Horizont Europa“ gesetzt werden sollen.
Gerhard Vowe beschäftigt sich mit dem Bundestagswahlkampf 2021. In dem Artikel „Wie digitalisiert war der Bundestagswahlkampf 2021? Zwölf Thesen“ erörtert er zentrale Facetten der Digitalisierung des Wahlkampfs. Ergebnis: Der Wahlkampf war weniger digital geprägt als erwartet. Erschienen ist der Artikel in der aktuellen Ausgabe der Zeitschrift für Parteienwissenschaften.
In dem am 30. November erschienen Artikel „Sexual Interaction in Digital Contexts and Its Implications for Sexual Health: A Conceptual Analysis“ beschäftigen sich die Autor:innen mit der Klassifikation von sexuellen Interaktionen in digitalen Kontexten. The UNCITRAL Working Group IV (e-commerce), composed of all States members of the Commission, held its sixty-second session from 22 to 26 November 2021 through virtual meetings 5.5 hours every evening (UTC +8:00 Beijing time) Arrangements were made to allow delegations to participate in person at the Vienna International Centre and remotely. In her second-term of the Deputy Director of Online Dispute Resolution Center of CIETAC, Prof. Xue joined the Director’s meeting on November 29, 2021, along with the Director Mr. Wang and Deputy Director Mr. Wang. The three Directors analyzed the current situation of the ODR Center and assessed the challenges and opportunities of domain name disputes. The Directors approved the new list of Panelists for domain name dispute resolution at CIETAC/ADNDRC Beijing Office. Some new blood was introduced into the list to make it more internationalized.
