Bundesverdienstkreuz für bidt-Direktor Dirk Heckmann

Für seine herausragenden Verdienste im Bereich des Digitalrechts wurde bidt-Direktor Dirk Heckmann, Professor für „Recht und Sicherheit der Digitalisierung“ an der TU München, mit dem Bundesverdienstkreuz ausgezeichnet. Die Auszeichnung überreichte Markus Blume, Bayerischer Staatsminister für Wissenschaft und Kunst, im Rahmen einer feierlichen Zeremonie im Münchner Gärtnerplatztheater.

Zum offiziellen „Quantenjahr 2025“ öffnet die Fakultät für Physik der Universität Würzburg am 14. November 2025 ihre Türen und lädt zur Langen Nacht der Quantenphysik ein. Ab 17 Uhr erwartet Gäste ein abwechslungsreiches Programm mit Vorträgen, Experimenten und Mitmachstationen. Ziel der Veranstaltung ist es, die faszinierende Welt der Quantenphysik für alle Altersgruppen greifbar zu machen.

Interdisciplinary Reading Group “Deep Learning”

Initiated by the Quantitative Economics Division we have instituted a bi-weekly exchange of thoughts and ideas between researchers from the Departments of Economics and Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity. The kick-off meeting on November 12, 2025  is dedicated to acquiring a “common language” by working through the book „Deep Learning“ by Goodfellow, Bengio and Courville. We look forward to deepening our knowledge on current topics together with professors, post-docs and PhD students from different fields. In this opening episode of the season “Secure Money” we ask: Who actually sees this data? Why is payment data so much more sensitive than other data tracks? And how is it used, in particular by the current players in the payment market? Is a vague unease or indifference justified – because proper knowledge about what happens in the background is no given.
