This is software under free licences that grants its users four freedoms: to run the software for any purpose, to examine how it works and thus also the source code, to adapt it to their own needs, and to redistribute the software, even in modified versions. On October 7, Teresa Rauscher successfully defended her dissertation on “Imaging with Nonlinear Ultrasound Waves: Modeling, Analysis and Numerics,” becoming the 10th graduate of the doc.funds doctoral school “Modeling-Analysis-Optimization of discrete, continuous and stochastic systems.” The thesis was reviewed by Prof. Mechthild Thalhammer, University of Innsbruck, and Prof. Lehel Banjai, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, who also served as examiners. The dissertation was supervised by Barbara Kaltenbacher, in collaboration with Prof.

On October 1, 2025, Phuoc Truong Huynh successfully completed his doctoral studies with his thesis on “Parameter identification from optimized measurements, with applications in acoustics.” He is thus the eighth doctoral graduate of the doc.funds doctoral school “Modeling-Analysis-Optimization of discrete, continuous, and stochastic systems.” The examiners (and reviewers of the dissertation) were Prof. Tapio Helin, LUT University Finland, and Prof. Vincent Duval, INRIA, France. The thesis was supervised by Barbara Kaltenbacher, AAU, and Prof.

Can Instagram moderate sexual health content in Arabic?

When it comes to social media reach and engagement, content can perform very differently depending on the perceived gender of its audience. In a recent experiment, I published two nearly identical videos—one for men, the other for women. The men’s version drew 15,000 views and 151 likes, while the women’s post reached just 7,000 views and 59 likes.

In another video intended for men, the analytics show 76,000 views, 739 likes, 126 comments, and 3,597 shares. Meanwhile, a video tailored for women reached 8,400 views, 94 likes, 28 comments, and 134 shares.

Das Graduate Center für Postdocs adressiert herausragende Forschende in der frühen Karrierephase – in der Regel im ersten oder zweiten Jahr nach der Promotion. Das Förderprogramm ermöglicht den Aufbau eines eigenständigen Forschungsprofils sowie die Vernetzung und Weiterbildung im Bereich Digitalisierung. Die Förderung umfasst eine Stelle bis E14 TV-L sowie 15.000 € Forschungsmittel pro Jahr, für maximal vier Jahre; geplant ist die Aufnahme von etwa zehn Postdocs zum 1. Januar 2027.
