Im Rahmen der Promotionsfeier zeichnet Dekan Prof. Dr. Nikolaj Klöcker auch die Doktorarbeit von Dr. Maren Weilandt mit dem Preis für die beste Dissertation 2017 aus. Die Arbeit, die am Institut für klinische Neurowissenschaften der Medizinischen Fakultät der HHU entstand, beschäftigt sich mit der funktionellen Bedeutung bestimmter Hirnregionen und ihrer Verbindung untereinander vor allem im Hinblick auf depressive Erkrankungen.

In late June 2018 I spent a week in the City of Mexico (CDMX), to support the municipal government with a variety of foresight related challenges, through its Laboratorio Para La Ciudad (City Lab).
The Lab was founded and is led by Gabriella Gómez-Mont, as the experimental arm / creative think tank of the Mexico City government, reporting to the Mayor. It is highly innovative in its techniques and strategies for urban development.

Women and girls are significantly less likely to choose ICT (Information and Communication Technology) studies than men. There are many reasons for this. Barriers to access, but also retention in ICT studies are complex as they are often related not only to economic but also to social and cultural barriers.
A lot of initiatives are being developed worldwide to break these barriers, and at the Internet Society we believe that only if we join efforts we can overcome them and help to close the digital gender gap.
With so many moving parts to advancing Internet access and enabling communities to reach the rest of the world, the biggest key to success, according to this year’s Jonathan B. Postel Award winner, is listening.
