Most of these, among the 3.5 billion connected individuals of the world, are people who are largely economically empowered, literate, and reside in urban or accessible areas. However, there is also half the world that is yet to get online and access what the Internet has to offer them.

Fehlt dem Menschen Eisen, führt dies zu erheblichen gesundheitlichen Einschränkungen, die weltweit Jahr für Jahr Millionen von Menschen betreffen. Eisen gelangt durch Pflanzen direkt oder indirekt in die Nahrungskette von Menschen. Auch wenn Eisen im Boden grundsätzlich in großer Menge vorhanden ist, kann es aufgrund der konkreten Bodenbeschaffenheit zu Eisenmangel bei Pflanzen kommen.
Sebastian Fraune wurde im Jahr 1978 in Münster geboren. Er studierte Biologie an der Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel (Diplom 2005). Am dortigen Zoologischen Institut promovierte er im Jahr 2009 zum Thema Wirt-Bakterien Interaktionen. Nach einer Postdoc-Zeit übernahm er in Kiel eine unabhängige Nachwuchsforschungsgruppe. Am 31. Januar 2019 ernannte ihn die HHU zum Professor für Zoologie mit dem Schwerpunkt „Organismische Interaktionen“.
