The 2019 European Chapters Meeting took place from 9-10 May in Bucharest, Romania. (Watch the livestream here.)
The two-day event gathered 31 participants consisting of 22 fellows coming from 20 Internet Society Chapters in the European region. The meeting agenda focused on discussions around Consolidation on the Internet Economy, Encryption, Consumer IoT Privacy & Security, and the Internet of Food.
Part of the appeal in being a worker on new gig-economy platforms like Uber or Taskrabbit is the apparent autonomy, the feeling of not having a boss. Sure, an app on your phone is your new boss, and through it a large, transnational corporation whose investors want nothing more than to automate you away, but maybe that beats someone coming out of the corner office to breathe down your neck. For some people, the app-boss is at least a step in the right direction.

Die Festival-Veranstalter 2019 des AStA wollen an diesem erfolgreichen Konzept anknüpfen. Sie bieten deshalb auch weiterhin gleichermaßen lokalen, aufstrebenden Bands neben großen, bekannten Headlinern eine Bühne und vergeben zu diesem Zweck auch einen der Auftritte im Rahmen eines Bandcontests im zakk Düsseldorf.
„Gérard Mourou hat sich durch seine Unterstützung des Fachs Physik große Verdienste um unsere Fakultät erworben“, so Prof. Dr. Martin Mauve, Dekan der Mathematisch-Naturwissenschaftlichen Fakultät der HHU, bei seiner Laudatio. „Seine richtungsweisenden Forschungsergebnisse waren die zentrale wissenschaftliche Grundlage für den Sonderforschungsbereich TR18, der über zwölf Jahre hinweg die Physik an der HHU maßgeblich geprägt hat.“ betont Prof. Mauve, und: „Die HHU ist stolz, ihn nun zu einem ihrer Ehrendoktoren zählen zu dürfen.“

The event will bring together members of the global community behind Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia free knowledge projects: volunteer editors (Wikimedians) from around the world, museum and archival experts, leaders of the free knowledge movement, academics, and more.
Die Schülerinnen und Schüler, die in diesem Jahr bei der Mathe-Akademie der HHU mitmachen, werden danach mit anderen Augen durch Museen, Kirchen und Paläste gehen: Anhand der in der Alhambra im spanischen Granada zu findenden maurischen Ornamente werden die Düsseldorfer Dozenten die Grundlagen der mathematischen Gruppentheorie erklären.

Diese machen es in der Summe notwendig, dass zur Gewährleistung der Sicherheit der Gebäudenutzerinnen und -nutzer vorsorglich weitere Sicherungsmaßnahmen eingeführt werden.
Die Gründung der Künstlervereinigung Das Junge Rheinland am 24. Februar 1919 markiert den Beginn umfänglicher kunstpolitischer Aktivitäten in Düsseldorf nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg. Noch im Kriegsjahr 1918 richten die Maler Arthur Kaufmann und Adolf Uzarksi gemeinsam mit dem Schriftsteller Herbert Eulenberg einen Aufruf an 45 rheinische Künstler, in dem sie nichts weniger als den „Zusammenschluß der gesamten jungen rheinischen Künstlerschaft“ fordern. Die Gruppe der Adressaten ist bunt gemischt und setzt sich aus Künstlern aller Gattungen zusammen.
