Over 20 million people in North America lack access to fast, affordable, and reliable Internet. In October 2018, the Indigenous Connectivity Summit gathered over 150 Indigenous leaders, policymakers, network operators, and community members in the Canadian Arctic town of Inuvik to focus on a common goal: bringing fast, affordable, and reliable Internet to Indigenous communities. The event featured success stories of community networks across North America to demonstrate the power of communities to lead their own Internet solutions, and how anyone can support them.

Three months ago, a German court ruled that part of a Wikipedia article—found to be defamatory in a previous court decision—had to be removed from both the article and its associated revision tracker, known as a “history” page.

This Friday marks a special date for me – the release of the German version of my new book with Silke Helfrich — Frei, Fair und Lebendig: Die Macht der Commons — published by transcript Verlag. The English version — Free, Fair and Alive: The Insurgent Power of the Commons – will be published in September by New Society Publishers.

Open justice is a growing movement to leverage new technologies – including big data, digital platforms, blockchain and more – to improve legal systems by making the workings of courts easier to understand, scrutinize and improve. Through the use of new technology, open justice innovators are enabling greater efficiency, fairness, accountability and a reduction in corruption in the third branch of government. For example, the open data portal ‘Atviras Teismas’ Lithuania (translated ‘open court’ Lithuania) is a platform for monitoring courts and judges through performance metrics’.

As adoption of Internet of Things devices increases, so does the number of insecure IoT devices on the network. These devices represent an ever-increasing pool of computing and communications capacity open to misuse. They can be hijacked to spread malware, recruited to form botnets to attack other Internet users, and even used to attack critical national infrastructure, or the structural functions of the Internet itself (we give several examples from recent headlines in the Reference Section, below).

Am ersten April 2019 startete das EU-Projekt BIOMAP (Biomarkers in Atopic Dermatitis und Psoriasis) mit dem Ziel, die Lebensqualität von Patientinnen und Patienten zu verbessern, die an diesen Erkrankungen leiden. Das auf fünf Jahre angelegte Projekt wird die Daten von mehr als 50.000 Patientinnen und Patienten analysieren und vor allem bislang ungelöste Schlüsselfragen bei der Behandlung von Atopischer Dermatitis und Psoriasis untersuchen.

El conjunto presentará un concierto en el que interpretará diversas obras que muestran cómo estos cantos litúrgicos están presentes en composiciones contemporáneas.Una manifestación artística milenaria, donde se encuentra lo humano con lo divino y cuya influencia sigue vigente hasta nuestros días, es la que marcará el inicio del ciclo coral de la Camerata Vocal de la Universidad de Chile.

Safer Internet Day is celebrated in over 100 countries each year to promote a more secure Internet. It nurtures and increases public awareness on cyber security, especially to young people across the globe, so that they become more responsible when using technology and digital gadgets. In Malaysia this year, this event was observed over one month, beginning 5 February.
