Gaza has been through at least four near-total communication blackouts since October 7. The latest internet blackout, on November 16, was due to fuel shortage, backup batteries running out, and relentless bombing of telecom infrastructure.

The recently released 2023 Network Readiness Index (NRI) discusses a crucial aspect of the digital age: public trust in technologies. As indicated in the report, trust in technologies is shaped by personal experiences and influenced by a multitude of factors – ranging from the micro level (a person’s age, socioeconomic background, access to technologies) to macro (a country’s culture, historical background, institutional framework, and level of network readiness).

A new analysis of media pluralism in the United Kingdom has been published after the Centre for Media Pluralism and Media Freedom was commissioned by the UK’s communications regulator, Ofcom, to examine the current state of media pluralism in the country using the Media Pluralism Monitor (MPM) tool.
