Africawide, 24 June, 2026 — The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), in partnership with the Wikimedia Foundation, the nonprofit that operates Wikipedia, are today announcing three journalists from Africa as recipients of the Open the Knowledge Journalism Awards.

Rund 150 Teilnehmende kamen im Saal X des Gasteig HP8 zusammen, darunter etwa 50 externe Gäste. Im Mittelpunkt standen die Projekte der Studierenden. 16 Teams aus zehn Digitalisierungskollegs präsentierten ihre Arbeiten in Pitches. Drei weitere Projekte waren an Informationsständen vertreten. Die Themen reichten von digitaler Gesundheitskompetenz und inklusiver Bildung über KI-gestützte Kulturformate bis hin zu Assistenzsystemen für Musikerinnen und Musiker.

Durch dieses „Lego mit Atomen“ können sich die Eigenschaften von Materialien tiefgreifend verändern, sodass zum Beispiel ungewöhnliche magnetische Zustände, optische Effekte oder Wechselwirkungen zwischen Teilchen auftreten. Solche Ansätze sind entscheidend für die Entwicklung künftiger Quantentechnologien.
