But this is not the end of the story as we can expect negative feedback loops in the future, through which negatives will strengthen each other. Thus, profound cultural and behavioral change will be on the agenda, if we are to survive.

Do the global poor care about climate change?

Do the global poor care about climate change? I was struck by that question at the National Peace Symposium that I attended and wrote about last month.
The Caliph of the Ahmadyya Muslim Community spoke about how we need world leaders to prioritize helping the poor out of poverty in the same urgent manner as acting on climate change. He said that the world’s poorest do not worry about the latest greenhouse gas figures because they’re too busy worrying about whether they can feed their children today.

How 3 community organizations are asserting their right to clean water

The oceans were the original global commons, shed and navigated for ages. But new technologies have added numerous challenges to sustaining our oceans: offshore oil drilling, deep-sea mining, and overfishing. Douglas Rushkoff: Survival of the Richest

Douglas Rushkoff: Last year, I got invited to a super-deluxe private resort to deliver a keynote speech to what I assumed would be a hundred or so investment bankers. It was by far the largest fee I had ever been offered for a talk — about half my annual professor’s salary — all to deliver some insight on the subject of “the future of technology.”

Often indicated by the small green padlock in a web browser’s address bar1, TLS  is used in financial transactions, by medical institutions, and to ensure secure connections in a wide variety of other applications.
