Botanische Besonderheit: Blühende Wollemie an der HHU

Es war 1994 eine Sensation, als der junge australische Ranger David Noble bei einer Klettertour in einem unerforschten Gebiet des Wollemi-Nationalparks auf Bäume stieß, die er noch nie gesehen hatte. Aber auch seine Kollegen waren ratlos und verblüfft: Erst nach einer aufwändigen Bestimmung war klar, dass Noble einen lebenden „Pflanzendino“ entdeckt hatte, dessen nahe Verwandte man bisher nur als 100 Millionen Jahre alte Fossilien kannte. Man war bis dahin davon ausgegangen, dass sie seit 50 Millionen Jahren ausgestorben waren.

Spahn ist seit März 2018 im Amt. Er kommt nach Düsseldorf, weil er sich insbesondere für die Aktivitäten des UKD in Äthiopien interessiert. Dort hat die Klinik für Gastroenterologie, Hepatologie und Infektiologie mit dem Hirsch-Institut für Tropenmedizin eine Außenstelle eingerichtet: Langfristig wird gemeinsam zu Infektionskrankheiten und Tropenmedizin geforscht und ausgebildet.

Tabus markieren die Grenzen des öffentlich Sagbaren – und auch des öffentlich Zeig- und Machbaren. Sie sorgen dafür, dass wir Themen meiden und uns im Bereich des gesellschaftlich Akzeptablen bewegen. Gleichzeitig haben wir einen großen Fundus an sprachlichen Strategien, durch die wir dennoch das ausdrücken können, was wir nicht sagen (oder zeigen) dürfen. Doch diese Grenzen werden immer wieder verschoben. An einigen Stellen werden sie ausgeweitet (z.B. im rechtspopulistischen Diskurs), an anderen Stellen verengt (z.B. Political Correctness).
