A new opinion poll has revealed that a majority of people in the UK want ministers to take action against disinformation on social media sites.
The poll by Survation for the Open Knowledge Foundation found that 55 per cent of people in the UK believe the Government should ‘impose compulsory action on social media sites to prevent the spread of disinformation on their sites’.
One-third (33 per cent) said social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter should take voluntary action to tackle disinformation, and only 7 per cent said no action should be taken.

While ethical questions about the fairness of triage situations have surfaced during the Coronavirus pandemic, an important aspect is often overlooked: Historical inequalities and structural discrimination have left some groups significantly under-resourced to tackle the health crisis, and, in many instances, they are more likely to contract and fall seriously ill from the virus. As a result, some of those groups have a higher likelihood to be subjected to triage decisions.
For the past couple of years, here, at the Internet Society, we have been thinking about Internet consolidation. After releasing the 2019 Global Internet Report: Consolidation in the Internet Economy, we understood our limitations and the complexity of the issue. Cuatro laboratorios del Programa de Virología del Instituto de Ciencias Biomédicas (ICBM) de la Facultad de Medicina, trabajan a tiempo completo en la realización de test diagnósticos de PCR provenientes del Servicio de Salud Metropolitano Norte y del Servicio Médico Legal. Con una capacidad de procesamiento de 150 test diarios, el equipo estima que podría llegar a doblar esta capacidad en los próximos meses.
