Auf der re:publica 2026 diskutieren Josephine B. Schmitt (CAIS), Roland A. Stürz (bidt) und Hannes-Vincent Krause (WI) am 18. Mai 2026 gemeinsam aktuelle empirische Erkenntnisse zu den Folgen von Social-Media-Verboten und sprechen dabei auch direkt mit Jugendlichen über deren Erfahrungen und Perspektiven.

Die Einführung des Verbots in Australien wurde vor allem mit Risiken für die mentale Gesundheit junger Menschen begründet. Besonders die Perspektiven Jugendlicher seien jedoch vor der Entscheidung kaum berücksichtigt worden.

Meski pembahasan rancangan Undang-undang Penyiaran belum tampak kelanjutannya, regulasi ini tetap perlu menjadi sorotan. Sebab, apabila merujuk pada draf Maret 2024, RUU Penyiaran memiliki implikasi serius terhadap kebebasan berpendapat para pelaku usaha di ruang digital, tanpa terkecuali kreator konten. Salah satu persoalan yang menjadi perhatian adalah rencana pengaturan dan pengawasan oleh KPI di ruang digital yang mana berpotensi menimbulkan pembatasan yang tidak diperlukan.
