Forschende des Würzburger Helmholtz-Instituts für RNA-basierte Infektionsforschung (HIRI) haben diesen umfangreichen Werkzeugkasten nun erweitert: Ihre neuartige Technologie, PUMA genannt, ermöglicht den Nachweis von RNA mit Cas12-Nukleasen, die herkömmlicherweise DNA schneiden. Die Methode verspricht dabei vielseitige Anwendungsmöglichkeiten und hohe Genauigkeit.

Den Frauen gelang gegen die französischen Vertreterinnen der Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France der große Wurf. 2:2 stand es nach regulärer Spielzeit und Verlängerung. Die Entscheidung musste vom Punkt fallen, wo die Würzburgerinnen die bessern Nerven hatten schließlich mit 4:2 siegten.

Since 2020, Next Generation Internet (NGI) programmes, part of European Commission’s Horizon programme, fund free software in Europe using a cascade funding mechanism (see for example NLnet’s calls).
