The workshop focused on innovative conic approaches for solving nonconvex quadratic optimization problems with uncertainty. The presentations sparked lively discussions, opening new research avenues and providing valuable feedback, especially for early-career researchers.

Sporting End to the 2026 Summer Semester

On 1 July 2026, the indoor and futsal footballers of the University Sports Institute Klagenfurt met the artificial-turf footballers of the University Sports Institute Klagenfurt on the grass pitch of SV Donau in Klagenfurt-St. Ruprecht.
The match was played over two halves of 35 minutes each. In the end, the artificial-turf footballers of USI Klagenfurt secured a 6–2 victory. The second half, however, was clearly dominated by the indoor and futsal players, although they were unable to convert their chances into goals.

New Christian Doppler Laboratory ‘AIMStream’ at the University of Klagenfurt

KKA new Christian Doppler Laboratory (CD Laboratory) is being established at the University of Klagenfurt. ‘AIMStream’ will focus on the next generation of video streaming – from enhanced user experiences and resilient, globally scalable transmission to immersive 3D content. The funding proposal was recently approved. The laboratory, which is set to run for seven years, will be headed by Farzad Tashtarian, a senior researcher and lecturer at the University of Klagenfurt’s Department of Information Technology.

Abuya Mama Ghufron Al-Bantani, or popularly known as Mama Ghufron, is the founder of the Uniq Nusantara Islamic Boarding School (pondok pesantren) in Malang, East Java, which has recently gone viral on social media. The controversial clip spread on platforms, including Tiktok and Instagram. Some of these clips include him pronouncing “Syududu” which he claims is from Suryani language, asserting that he is able to communicate with ants, and making a video call with the grim reaper.

Neue DFG-Forschungsgruppen am Start

Erfolg für Forschende aus den Geistes-, Sozial- und Naturwissenschaften sowie der Informatik an der JMU: Die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) hat ihre Anträge auf neue Forschungsgruppen bewilligt oder bestehende Forschungsgruppen verlängert. Insgesamt richtet die DFG fünf neue Forschungsgruppen ein und fördert diese mit insgesamt 27 Millionen Euro; fünf weitere Gruppen gehen in die Verlängerung.
