The world is experiencing an erosion of shared standards for what counts as trustworthy information—and whose voices are deemed credible. Institutions once seen as stewards of knowledge—science, journalism, academia—face declining levels of public trust. At the same time, many people are turning to online spaces and personalities that feel more relatable, even if they are less reliable.

The overall goal of this project is to study the role and implications that the new regulatory framework has in realising public values and influencing the power dynamics and legal relationships in the context of the development and use of generative AI models and systems in the media context, with a focus on AI-generated illegal and harmful content.

August 2025 drängende Fragen zur Entwicklung unserer Arbeitswelt im Zuge der digitalen Transformation. Pfeiffer ist Lehrstuhlinhaberin für Soziologie an der Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg mit dem Schwerpunkt Technik, Arbeit und Gesellschaft. Die bidt-Direktorin beschäftigt sich seit Langem damit, wie der digitale Wandel unsere Art zu arbeiten verändert.
