Lessons from the Network Readiness Index: Trust and Digital Skilling in Brazil

The recently released 2023 Network Readiness Index (NRI) discusses a crucial aspect of the digital age: public trust in technologies. As indicated in the report, trust in technologies is shaped by personal experiences and influenced by a multitude of factors – ranging from the micro level (a person’s age, socioeconomic background, access to technologies) to macro (a country’s culture, historical background, institutional framework, and level of network readiness).

Wichtige Dienste wie die Universitätsbibliothek, WueCampus, WueStudy, Webmail und das Userportal sind allerdings davon ausgenommen und bleiben weiter erreichbar.

It is still to be proven whether ChatGPT & Co. will really be of significant benefit to the economy and public administration.The reason: Large Language Models will only be able to take over human tasks on a large scale if they can be trained on (complex) specialised knowledge and then deliver around 70-80% correct output and at the same time recognise the incorrect 20-30% as incorrect and do not output it (i.e. if they are not hallucinating).Christian R.

Global launch of the Network Readiness Index 2023 surfaces insights around building a trusted digital world

The 2023 edition of the Network Readiness Index (NRI) has launched, revealing the most digitally ready economies in the world, and providing insights into the current state of global digital transformation.
The global launch event, held at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford on November 20th brought together ministers, industry leaders, academics, and civil society experts from around the world.
