On Saturday 7th March 2020, the tenth Open Data Day took place with people around the world organising over 300 events to celebrate, promote and spread the use of open data.

Our last session on vulnerable populations focused on gig workers, migrants, and people on the margins, as well as the crisis conditions in which preexisting inequalities are amplified. Building on the themes of barriers, this session will highlight issues of access, affordability and other factors that promote inclusion.

If anyone doubted the importance of the Internet before the COVID-19 pandemic, those doubts have vanished like toilet paper at Kroger. During this time, the Internet has proved to be a lifeline, delivering the latest coronavirus health and emergency updates, connecting people to coworkers and bosses, and facilitating online classes.

David Johnston ist Professor für Übersetzung am Zentrum für Übersetzen und Dolmetschen an der Queen's University Belfast. Die von der Universität Antwerpen koordinierte Mehrländerstudie untersucht die Auswirkungen der Corona-Pandemie auf die Lebensbedingungen sowie das Wohlbefinden der Studierenden in insgesamt 26 Ländern. Die teilnehmenden Hochschulen führen dazu eine Online-Befragung durch, in der unterschiedliche Bereiche des Studierendenlebens thematisiert werden.
