Reconocido con el primer lugar del premio "Escrituras de la Memoria" 2017 del Ministerio de las Artes, las Culturas y el Patrimonio, el libro "El Despojo de la Villa San Luis" escrito por Francisca Allende y Scarlett Olave que se lanzó este jueves 2 de agosto, realiza un recorrido por los últimos 50 años de política habitacional en Chile, de la mano la historia de los pobladores de este proyecto pionero impulsado por el gobierno del Presidente Salvador Allende. Uno de cada seis habitantes viviendo en campamentos.

1. En Chile, uno de los grandes desafíos de la reconstrucción democrática ha sido la lucha por Verdad, Justicia y Memoria. Por ello, diversas organizaciones de la sociedad civil se han organizado para abordar las violaciones a los derechos humanos perpetradas por el Estado durante la dictadura cívico-militar.

Across London and other European cities, a new way of living is taking root: property guardianship. Blocks of flats, police stations, social housing, libraries, offices, warehouses, schools – buildings that have been taken out of use – are occupied by a new anti-squatting measure: people who guard property by living in it. Whilst ostensibly a win-win situation for everyone, this industry is a symptom of the desperate state of urban housing and ultimately reinforces the factors that caused it, as well as normalising lower conditions and precarity.

Michel Bauwens: In the p2p/commons literature of a few years ago, we introduced a way of thinking about the world that challenges the ‘accumulation of capital’ with the ‘accumulation of the common’. There is a tendency to think of this as accumulating simply capital resources of another kind, i.e. for investing (‘transvestment’) in commons-based shared resources. But remember, commons is also always commoning, i.e. it is based on human agency, i.e. an accumulation of commoning. All commons are really social commons, or they are no commons at all.
