In Zeiten, in denen politische Debatten an Schärfe gewonnen haben und Populismus zunehmend Raum in der medialen Wahrnehmung einnimmt, sind Studierende der Heinrich-Heine-Universität (HHU) in dem Lehrforschungsprojekt „Populistische Argumentation: ein hölzernes Eisen? Philosophische und politikwissenschaftliche Perspektiven“ unter anderem der Frage nachgegangen, woran populistische Argumentation zu erkennen ist und wie und ob populistische Argumentation eine Gesellschaft verändert. Das Projekt widmet sich dem Populismus aus argumentationstheoretischer Perspektive.
