The 1st International Summer School 2025 on Bilateral AI held from July 7 to July 11, 2025 at the University of Klagenfurt, Austria, started today!

Vor Kurzem waren die Mitglieder der Universität dazu aufgerufen, ihre Vertreterinnen und Vertreter in den diversen Gremien neu zu wählen. Jetzt liegen die Ergebnisse vor. Mehr Informationen auf den Seiten des Wahlamts.

Während der Corona-Pandemie mussten deutsche Hochschulen schnell handeln: Vorlesungen und Seminare mussten online via Zoom angeboten werden. Nach den pandemiebedingten Lockdowns haben viele Dozierende synchron-hybride Lehr-Lern-Settings eingeführt. Dabei handelt es sich um Lehrveranstaltungen, an denen Studierende entweder vor Ort im Seminarraum oder zeitgleich online teilnehmen können.

The team was led by Jan Wilke (University of Bayreuth and University of Klagenfurt). Their recommendations, published in the Journal of Sport and Health Science, aim to settle long-standing controversies and dispel common myths surrounding stretching.

On June 11, 2025, Safer Internet Lab’s research consultant, Rifqi Rachman, was invited by FPCI to speak at one of their Reality Checks workshops. The session covered several key topics:

El pasado martes 24 de junio, se llevó a cabo el seminario online “Origen y Tendencias de la Regulación Tecnológica en Europa y Chile”, organizado por el Programa de Derecho, Ciencia y Tecnología UC, en el que participaron Carolina Fernández, profesora de IE LawSchool, Ex Directora de Derecho de Competencia de Telefónica España, y Ex DeputyDivision Counsel-Iberia en The Coca-Cola Company; y Matías Aránguiz profesor de Derecho UC, subdirector del Programa de Derecho, Ciencia y Tecnología UC, y socio de la consultora Inteligencia Digital.

AI chatbots have become more and more integrated in the lives of millions since 2022. Beyond technical assistance and finding information, many have turned to these bots for emotional support and companionship. These systems are increasingly used as informal therapists, confidants, or even substitutes for friendship, especially in contexts where people cannot access mental health services. In other cases, some simply want to speak to a non-judgmental conversationalist.

On July 3, 2025 met at the SV Donau sports field in Kneipgasse, the USI indoor footballers and their selection a selection of USI artificial turf footballers. Two 30-minute matches were played in sweltering heat. Nevertheless, both teams gave their all in these conditions. In the end, the indoor footballers were able to cheer. They won 6 to 1. The match was refereed by (perhaps) future FIFA referee Klaus RISS. You couldn’t tell it was too hot for him. Afterwards, we went to the canteen of the Donau sports club and ended the evening together.

In the second episode, we take a look at a specific domain where data sharing is both necessary and difficult, and where new forms of data sharing are being discussed and tested. We focus on health data and data use in medicine. We talk about the opportunities and challenges associated with this. On the one hand, data sharing is expected to drive major innovations in medical research and contribute to improving healthcare. On the other hand, health data is extremely sensitive, meaning it is clearly linked to individuals and can cause great harm if it falls into the wrong hands.

Treffen des Netzwerks Sozialpädagogik in Österreich in Klagenfurt heraus entwickelte sich eine „Öffentliche Stellungnahme zur Situation und Zukunft der Kinder- und Jugendhilfe in Österreich“. Sie wurde am 26. Mai 2025 an die zuständige Bundesministerin Claudia Plakolm geschickt. Fast 700 Kolleg:innen fordern darin, in die Reformbemühungen unabhängige Vertreter:innen der Fachwissenschaft einzubinden.
