The Open Definition initiative was a collaborative process led by the Open Knowledge Foundation more than a decade ago that created a consensus among experts by defining openness in relation to data and content, in a collaborative, open process with volunteer leading experts in the field, who did a remarkable job.
Zu einem Fest hatte am Abend des 15. März 2023 die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) in den Leibniz-Saal der Berlin-Brandenburgischen Akademie der Wissenschaften in Berlin geladen. Dort wurden die zehn „deutschen Nobelpreise“ vergeben, die mit jeweils 2,5 Millionen Euro dotierten Gottfried-Wilhelm-Leibniz-Preise 2023 der DFG.

Die Länder Hamburg und Hessen haben eine Rechtsgrundlage für eine automatisierte Auswertung der polizeilichen Datenbestände geschaffen. Hintergrund ist, dass die Polizei sehr große Datenmengen gesammelt hat und es schwierig ist, diese händisch auszuwerten, um Anhaltspunkte für zukünftige Straftaten zu finden. Hessen setzt deshalb eine Software der Firma Palantir ein, also einen Algorithmus, der die Datenbestände der Polizei automatisiert auswerten kann.
