2018年5月23日，由阿里巴巴知识产权研究院主办、北京师范大学互联网政策与法律研究中心协办的阿里巴巴知识产权大讲堂第一讲在阿里巴巴北京绿地中心成功举办。法学院院长卢建平教授、互联网政策与法律研究中心主任薛虹教授、法学院外事秘书张富丽老师与来自坦桑尼亚、希腊、伊朗、老挝、多哥等七个不同国家的十余名留学生一行参加了讲座，听取阿里巴巴集团副总裁、阿里巴巴知识产权研究院总裁孙军工先生、阿里巴巴集团法务部高级法务专家樊俊伟先生的精彩演讲，并进行了现场互动问答交流。

On May 16, the Senate passed a Congressional Review Act (CRA) to overturn the Federal Communication Commission’s (FCC) repeal of the 2015 Open Internet Order. A CRA allows Congress to review regulations issued by government agencies and overrule them with a majority vote. This vote, led by Senator Ed Markey (D-MA), is a step towards reinstating the FCC’s 2015 net neutrality rules.

Central Asia, the most remote landlocked mountainous region in the world, has some of the most expensive Internet in global comparison. The cost of it can easily reach 10-20% of average monthly salary. In absolute terms, the price of the Internet can reach triple digits for 1 Mbps.

Evento foi realizado no Centro Culural FGVNa última semana, a FGV Direito Rio recebeu o seminário Iniciativa Brasil-China: Investimentos chineses no Brasil e o papel da Arbitragem, da Mediação e dos meios online de Solução de Conflitos. O evento trouxe em perspectiva comparada as visões brasileira e chinesa sobre arbitragem e os meios alternativos de solução de disputas, incluindo os meios online de solução de conflitos, através do debate entre especialistas na área.

Muito tem sido dito sobre Blockchain e criptomoedas, desde as visões mais otimistas a respeito de um possível fim dos intermediários (“trusted third parties”), até aquelas mais pessimistas, que veem na tecnologia uma forma de gastar muito dinheiro (e energia elétrica) em aplicações que poderiam ser muito mais simples e menos custosas.
Blockchain é mais do que um hype, porém. É uma tecnologia que, ao que tudo indica, tem potencial para mudar a forma como entendemos confiança, descentralização e criptografia.
Mas o que é Blockchain?

Eventos foram realizados da Universidade de Princeton e na USPO pesquisador do Centro de Pesquisas em Direito e Economia (CPDE) da FGV Direito Rio, Paulo Augusto Franco, participou este mês do evento The Dignity and Debt Network – Inaugural Symposium na Universidade de Princeton, Estados Unidos. Na mesma semana, o professor da FGV Direito Rio, Leandro Molhano, participou do seminário do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciência Política da Universidade de São Paulo (USP).

O acordo é de cooperação científica e acadêmicaA FGV Direito Rio e o Tribunal de Justiça da Bahia firmaram um acordo de cooperação científica e acadêmica. O objetivo da parceria é o de promover atividades de ensino e pesquisa, como o curso de Direito e Economia para magistrados, além de possibilitar a troca de conhecimentos e práticas que benéficas ao aprimoramento das instituições.

Encryption fails: A couple of stories in the news this past week demonstrated problems with encryption, or at least, problems with deployment of encryption. One researcher demonstrated an exploitable loophole he called Efail in PGP/GPG and S/Mime software used by email clients, reports Engadget. Efail abuses the active content of HTML emails to access plain text.
