On 9 June 2026, the University of Klagenfurt welcomed students, graduates, and interested guests to the latest edition of the KARRIEREWEGE panel discussion series: From Abroad to a Career in Carinthia. Held in the Omansaal, the event focused on the experiences of international students and graduates who chose not only to study in Austria but also to build their professional futures in Carinthia.
The growing influence of artificial intelligence (AI) across society is creating opportunities and new responsibilities for lawmakers.
Recognising the need for legislators to better understand this rapidly evolving technology, Stellenbosch University’s (SU) Policy Innovation Lab recently presented AI training to more than 200 Members of Parliament (MPs), helping to strengthen Parliament’s capacity to oversee and engage with AI-related developments.
Continuing our Get to Know the Team series, we are delighted to introduce Ms Thando Ndita, our Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) Manager.
Thando is a human rights researcher affiliated with a Hague-based organisation, where her work focuses on bringing attention to human rights issues that often do not make it into mainstream media or policy conversations. Her research has explored areas such as caste-based discrimination, democratic governance, political repression, and access to justice, all grounded in a strong commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices.
We were delighted to welcome visiting colleagues Carola-Bibiane Schönlieb (University of Cambridge), Andreas Hauptmann (University of Oulu), and Ozan Öktem (KTH Royal Institute of Technology) to our institute for two weeks during the summer semester of 2026.
During their visit, they worked on a book project on data-driven methods for inverse problems. We were pleased to host them and look forward to seeing the results of their collaboration in this exciting and rapidly evolving field.
In collaboration with researchers from IViR, DigiCon will launch a new multidisciplinary DigiBook on the regulation of deepfakes, with a particular focus on the EU.

Die Frauenfußball-Akademie (FFA) der Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU) mit ihrem Nachwuchsförderzentrum für Juniorinnen ist europaweit die einzige Forschungsakademie, die sich mit der optimalen Talententwicklung im Frauenfußball befasst. Gegründet im Jahr 2014 hat die Akademie bundesweit zahlreiche Studien durchgeführt und bei über 1.000 Nachwuchsspielerinnen innovative Ausbildungskonzepte entwickelt und in der Praxis erprobt. Ihre Mitglieder publizieren regelmäßig in hochrangigen wissenschaftlichen Fachzeitschriften.
