The following interview needs a longer introduction to properly contextualize the Brazilian social movements background. I first met Pedro Burity, a graduate student and researcher at the University of Brasilia, at the Association of internet Research conference, this October in Rio de Janeiro. Pedro researches sociot-echnical arrangements and imaginaries for social movements in Brazil. He works with civic tech, designing digital participatory processes and public services for governments.

Antibiotikaresistente Infektionen stellen eine immer größer werdende Bedrohung dar. Anstatt Bakterien klassisch zu kultivieren und ihre Reaktion auf Antibiotika zu testen, analysieren Labore zunehmend das bakterielle Erbgut, um frühzeitig Resistenzen zu identifizieren. Aus den DNA-Sequenzen des Erregers können Forschende ableiten, über welche Resistenzmechanismen er verfügen könnte und anschließend wirksame Behandlungsmöglichkeiten vorschlagen.
Seit mehreren Jahren erforschen Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler in Würzburg einzelne Zellen mit modernster Einzelzellanalyse. Der neue „In-situ-RNA-Imaging-Analyzer“ macht nun auch komplexe Krankheitsprozesse sichtbar.
