What is Frictionless?

Helicobacter pylori ist weltweit verbreitet. Experten schätzen, dass etwa die Hälfte der Menschheit das Bakterium in sich trägt – bevorzugt im Magen. Dank diverser Anpassungen ist Helicobacter vor der extrem sauren Umgebung geschützt und kann sich in der Magenschleimhaut dauerhaft ansiedeln und vermehren. Vor allem die Fähigkeit, die Strukturen auf der Oberfläche seiner Hülle äußerst variabel zu gestalten, hilft dem Bakterium dabei, sich in dieser an und für sich feindlichen Umwelt zu behaupten. Mit dem gleichen Trick weiß er sich vor dem Immunsystem seines Wirts zu verbergen.

Dr Rosalie Gillett from the Digital Media Research Centre has been named one of five Australian researchers selected for the humanities media residency program for 2021.
“I’m delighted to have been selected for the residency,” says Dr Gillett, whose research sits at the intersection between criminology and digital media.
She adds, “the program is an excellent opportunity for me to communicate my interdisciplinary research on harm and safety in a digital age.”

Politically dominant strategies in the fields of agriculture and bioeconomy - even those which take Sustainable Development Goals seriously – stick to what might be called a ‘Productivity Paradigm’: increasing productivity is considered to be necessary to alleviate the rising biomass demand and the resulting competition on land use. However, a lot of visions of agriculture and bioeconomy endorsed by politically subdominant groups both in the Global North and the Global South implicitly question a main pillar of the politically dominant positions: the necessity of productivity increase.
