New skin for gripping arms aims to enable robots to sort used textiles

daisha/Adobestock (KI generated)It is estimated that around 100 billion items of clothing are currently produced worldwide, most of which will end up in recycling processes. Sorting these old textiles by hand requires an enormous amount of human labour. A research team is now developing new technologies that will enable robotic grippers to sort textiles more effectively.

On May 28 and 29, 2025, the Unisport Austria Beach Volleyball Championships took place at the outdoor facility of the University Sports Institute Klagenfurt. The tournament was also part of the Amateur Tour of the Austrian Volleyball Association.
A total of 16 women’s and 16 men’s teams were registered. The preliminary round was played in a group phase (round robin). This was followed by single elimination.

Sie können regelmäßig daran teilnehmen und so ein Fach über Wochen „auf Probe“ studieren. Aber auch gelegentliche Besuche in den Hörsälen sind möglich.

Gerade eben hat die Europäische Union ein neues Sanktionspaket gegen Russland verhängt – das mittlerweile siebzehnte. Bereits nach dem Einmarsch Russlands in die Ukraine im Februar 2022 hatten USA und EU umfangreiche wirtschaftliche Sanktionen verhängt, kombiniert mit weitreichenden Exportverboten. Zentrales Ziel dieser Maßnahmen ist es, Russland den Zugang zu Technologien zu verwehren, die für die Herstellung und Wartung militärischer Ausrüstung unerlässlich sind.
