Der Digital Services Act (DSA) erfasst alle digitalen Dienste, die Verbraucherinnen und Verbrauchern in der EU einen Zugang zu Dienstleistungen, Inhalten und Waren gestatten. Neben Internetzugangsdiensten sind dies Suchmaschinen, Onlinehandelsplattformen und Onlineplattformen wie soziale Netzwerke. Zentrale Ziele des DSA sind, den Austausch von illegalen Onlineinhalten zu verhindern und die Grundrechte der Bürgerinnen und Bürger im Internet umfassender zu schützen. Manipulative Algorithmen und die Verbreitung von Desinformationen sollen wirksam eingedämmt werden.

Dr. Markus Diefenbacher ist Gruppenleiter am Mildred-Scheel-Nachwuchszentrum für Krebsforschung (MSNZ) der Universität Würzburg und des Universitätsklinikums Würzburg. Mit Wirkung vom 1. Juni 2023 wurde er als Associated Editor des Fachjournals Oncogene der Nature Publishing Group nominiert.
Als einziger deutscher Wissenschaftler wird Diefenbacher in den kommenden drei Jahren das renommierte Journal vertreten. Die Ernennung kommt einer Auszeichnung für seine Forschungsarbeiten über den Einfluss des Ubiquitin-Systems auf die Tumorentwicklung gleich.

Von anderen Insekten war bereits bekannt, dass Laufen oder Fliegen die Verarbeitung von Sehinformationen im Gehirn beschleunigt. Ob aktives Verhalten aber auch einen Einfluss auf die Verarbeitung von Reizen im Auge hat, war bisher nicht erforscht.
