Da solche Entscheidungen weitreichende Konsequenzen für die Betroffenen haben können, ist es besonders relevant, dass sie nachvollziehbar und überprüfbar sind. Moderne KI-Systeme beruhen meist auf statistischen Modellen, die auf Basis von Wahrscheinlichkeiten Entscheidungen treffen. Die interne Modellstruktur kann dabei äußerst komplex sein.
