In our Arabic-speaking countries or the West Asia and North Africa (WANA) region, governments are increasingly considering social media bans and age-verification measures to protect children online. These initiatives are mostly influenced by international legislative trends, particularly in Europe and Australia, and are driven by reasonable concerns about children’s exposure to online exploitation, cyberbullying, dangerous content, excessive platform use, and the wider impact of digital technologies on their well-being.

Die Vortragsreihe „Servus, KI! Der Bayern-Dialog zu Künstlicher Intelligenz“ ist eine Kooperation der bayerischen Volkshochschulen, acatech – Deutsche Akademie der Technikwissenschaften, des Bayerischen Forschungsinstituts für Digitale Transformation (bidt) und der Plattform Lernende Systeme (PLS). An ausgewählten Volkshochschulen in ganz Bayern kommen Bürgerinnen und Bürger mit Expertinnen und Experten aus Wissenschaft und Praxis ins Gespräch. Verständliche Vorträge vermitteln aktuelles Wissen, greifen konkrete Anwendungsfelder auf und schaffen Raum für Fragen und Diskussionen.

In einer Kooperation des Instituts für Physikalische und Theoretische Chemie und des Instituts für Informatik der Universität Würzburg haben Professor Tobias Brixner, Dr. Stefan Müller und Professor Sebastian von Mammen mit ihren Teams seit 2020 ein simuliertes Laserlabor in Virtueller Realität (VR) entwickelt. Damit lässt sich der sichere Umgang mit Laserstrahlung in der Praxis erlernen. Universitäten, Schulen und Industrieunternehmen setzen die Würzburger Software mittlerweile an zahlreichen Standorten weltweit ein.
