The Centre for Media Pluralism and Media Freedom is pleased to announce the publication of a preliminary study conducted as part of the Local Media for Democracy project. The report, titled “News deserts in Europe: assessing risks for local and community media in the 27 EU Member States“, features a literature review and methodological definition of “news deserts” in the European context.

Geneva, Switzerland — Today, the Wikimedia Foundation, the nonprofit that operates Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects, was rejected for the third time from gaining accreditation as a permanent observer to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). 

In mid-June this year, the Open Knowledge Network chapters met in Zurich for our annual gathering.

It is only my second year working with the Network, but I already know how powerful it is when these people get together in a room, so I was burning with anticipation for months. And I was not disappointed. It’s always such an honour to witness the genuine pleasure we all feel when we get to share a meal, or a laugh, while updating each other on local and global news, current projects, and future hopes.

Als Nährboden für das Pilzwachstum dient ein Gemisch aus kleingeschnittenen Blattstücken, die die Tiere von umliegenden Bäumen und Sträuchern gewinnen.

Stockholm University hosted visuAAL’s 2nd Doctoral Seminar in April, where early stage researchers presented the progress of their PhDs. It was very satisfying to see how they have progressed in recent months towards achieving the objectives of their research projects and the commitment and participation of the members of the supervisory committees, who actively contributed to the discussions and contributed to the multidisciplinary knowledge of the visuAAL project.
