Das Graduate Center für Postdocs adressiert herausragende Forschende in der frühen Karrierephase – in der Regel im ersten oder zweiten Jahr nach der Promotion. Das Förderprogramm ermöglicht den Aufbau eines eigenständigen Forschungsprofils sowie die Vernetzung und Weiterbildung im Bereich Digitalisierung. Die Förderung umfasst eine Stelle bis E14 TV-L sowie 15.000 € Forschungsmittel pro Jahr, für maximal vier Jahre; geplant ist die Aufnahme von etwa zehn Postdocs zum 1. Januar 2027.  

Exakt 25.295 Studierende sind bis jetzt (Stand 9.10.2025) an der Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU) für ein Studium eingeschrieben. Zum Vergleich: Im vergangenen Jahr waren es kurz vor Beginn der Vorlesungen 25.894.

The GPU4U project initiated by AICS and ITEC (PI: J. Wachter & Mathias Lux) is being launched as a pilot within the DHInfra.at infrastructure initiative. DHInfra.at is developing a national Machine Learning infrastructure primarily for Digital Humanities, with CLARIAH partners and DH research projects receiving priority access. GPU4U serves as an exploratory pilot to understand how computational resources might be utilized by a broader student community, while the infrastructure’s core mission remains focused on Digital Humanities research.

On October 1, 2025, Safer Internet Lab (SAIL) was invited to a webinar titled “Safeguarding Democracy and Elections in the Age of AI.” In light of the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in reshaping governance, the webinar aimed to address AI’s dual impact on democratic processes, civic and political participation, and electoral integrity. When it comes to social media reach and engagement, content can perform very differently depending on the perceived gender of its audience.  In a recent experiment, I published two nearly identical videos on Instagram—one for men, the other for women. The men’s version drew 15,000 views and 151 likes, while the women’s post reached just 7,000 views and 59 likes.

In another video intended for men, the analytics show 76,000 views, 739 likes, 126 comments, and 3,597 shares. Meanwhile, a video tailored for women reached 8,400 views, 94 likes, 28 comments, and 134 shares.

KKThrough its Transfer.Science to Spin-off funding scheme, the Christian Doppler Research Association (CDG) is supporting ten research activities as they take their final steps from fundamental research towards application, with a total of EUR 6.8 million in funding. Among the funded initiatives is AIONIC, a project that aims to enable the fully autonomous inspection of critical infrastructure using drones or robotic systems.

Literarisches Lernen: Damit ist der Erwerb von Kompetenzen im Umgang mit Literatur gemeint – insbesondere die Fähigkeit, Romane, Gedichte und andere literarische Texte zu verstehen, zu interpretieren, zu reflektieren und ästhetisch zu erleben. Ein besonders einschlägiges Konzept für das literarische Lernen hat der Deutschdidaktiker Kaspar Spinner vorgelegt.
