Suchtfördernde Designs der Plattformen und die daraus resultierende Beeinträchtigung der mentalen Gesundheit der jungen Nutzerinnen und Nutzer stellen Politik und Gesellschaft vor Herausforderungen. Die Einführung eines Social-Media-Verbots in Australien verschaffte dem Thema schließlich auch in Deutschland und ganz Europa eine breite öffentliche Sichtbarkeit.

The prize recognises outstanding achievements by women in Austria in the field of information technology and will be presented on 18 November 2026 as part of the Digital Days at the Vienna Museum of Science and Technology. One winner is selected each year. The prize is worth EUR 10,000.
