Der Mikrobiologe Rotem Sorek erhält für die Erforschung bakterieller Verteidigung gegen Viren den mit 1,5 Millionen Euro dotierten Max-Planck-Humboldt-Forschungspreis 2023. Die Summe ermöglicht ein Forschungsprojekt, das der Wissenschaftler vom israelischen Weizmann Institute of Science in Zusammenarbeit mit Jörg Vogel vom Helmholtz-Institut Würzburg und Veit Hornung von der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) München aufnehmen wird. Gemeinsam wollen die Forscher Schlüsselmechanismen des bakteriellen und des menschlichen Immunsystems untersuchen.
