Dewesternizing digital cultures: gender, agency and resistance in Asia
Co-hosted by the QUT Digital Media Research Centre and the Itatsu Lab from the University of Tokyo, this workshop examines gendered identities and digital practices across Asian contexts. Through case studies on masculinities, virtual influencers, digital peacebuilding, and digital exclusion, the workshop shows how individuals and communities negotiate visibility, belonging, and resistance by highlighting diverse forms of agency that redefine what it means to participate, perform, and resist in the digital age.

Cette activité est organisée par la Société Québécoise de Droit International, la Chaire de Recherche du Canada sur les Droits Humains et la Justice Réparatrice Internationale, le Centre de Recherche en Droit Public, et le Laboratoire sur les Droits Humains et la Justice internationale. Elle sera clôturée par la remise du titre de membre d’honneur de la Société Québécoise de Droit International au Professeur François Crépeau.

Die Mitglieder des Netzwerks sind das Alexander von Humboldt Institut für Internet und Gesellschaft (HIIG), das Bayerische Forschungsinstitut für Digitale Transformation (bidt), das Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS), das Hans-Bredow-Institut (HBI), das Weizenbaum-Institut und das Zentrum verantwortungsbewusste Digitalisierung (ZEVEDI).

Für seine herausragenden Verdienste im Bereich des Digitalrechts wurde bidt-Direktor Dirk Heckmann, Professor für „Recht und Sicherheit der Digitalisierung“ an der TU München, mit dem Bundesverdienstkreuz ausgezeichnet. Die Auszeichnung überreichte Markus Blume, Bayerischer Staatsminister für Wissenschaft und Kunst, im Rahmen einer feierlichen Zeremonie im Münchner Gärtnerplatztheater.

Zum offiziellen „Quantenjahr 2025“ öffnet die Fakultät für Physik der Universität Würzburg am 14. November 2025 ihre Türen und lädt zur Langen Nacht der Quantenphysik ein. Ab 17 Uhr erwartet Gäste ein abwechslungsreiches Programm mit Vorträgen, Experimenten und Mitmachstationen. Ziel der Veranstaltung ist es, die faszinierende Welt der Quantenphysik für alle Altersgruppen greifbar zu machen.

A shifting news ecosystem

O LAPIN, o IDEC e o IP.rec apresentaram ao Governo Federal suas contribuições à Consulta Pública sobre o Regime Especial de Tributação para Serviços de Data Centers (Redata).

O documento propõe diretrizes para que a digitalização avance em consonância com a justiça socioambiental, assegurando transparência, controle social e auditoria pública no uso de energia, água e outros recursos naturais.

Initiated by the Quantitative Economics Division we have instituted a bi-weekly exchange of thoughts and ideas between researchers from the Departments of Economics and Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity. The kick-off meeting on November 12, 2025  is dedicated to acquiring a “common language” by working through the book „Deep Learning“ by Goodfellow, Bengio and Courville. We look forward to deepening our knowledge on current topics together with professors, post-docs and PhD students from different fields.
