I began this diary two months ago when our everyday life started showing the signs of persistent militarization in response to the Russian troops building up near the Ukrainian border. Registering the nuances of this transformation seemed important. Like many, I thought the tension would dissolve, but this is a war diary now.

Wir sind zutiefst besorgt über die humanitären, politischen und ökonomischen Folgen, die dieser Angriff für die Ukraine, aber auch für uns alle, hat und noch haben wird. Ein Blick in die einschlägige wissenschaftliche Literatur zeigt, dass schon eine Vielzahl anorganischer Exziton-Polariton-Systeme experimentell untersucht und theoretisch beschrieben wurde. Dabei kam stets das allgemein akzeptierte Modell zweier gekoppelter Oszillatoren zum Einsatz, das nur die Kopplung zwischen Exzitonen und Hohlraumphotonen berücksichtigt.

Dabei wurde eine Reihe von Speicher- und Infrastruktursystemen in Mitleidenschaft gezogen mit der Folge, dass etliche IT-Dienste an der Universität Würzburg seitdem gestört sind – betroffen sind davon zumindest teilweise auch das Telefon- und das Mailsystem.
