Some quick reflections on the conceptualisation of media freedom and media pluralism in the Rule of Law Report, in the European Media Freedom Act, in the Digital Services Act
In democratic societies, a shared informational environment is considered a condition of civic and informed engagement and for a sound deliberative democracy. This common public sphere (Habermas) enables citizens to access facts, interpretations, and debates, which are a shared domain and define preconditions necessary for the legitimacy of democratic processes.
Did you know? There are more than two genders and sexes!
As June is Pride Month, we would like to take a closer look at the topic of gender diversity this month. Gender is thought, discussed, experienced and lived beyond the rigid concept of binarity. Non-binarity is a topic in every scientific discipline that deals with gender. For example, in medicine: biologically, gender can be determined by external sexual characteristics, reproductive organs, chromosomes and hormones. However, from a scientific perspective, this cannot always be categorised in binary terms.
Robot swarms that scan an entire area
KKMany hands make light work: the same applies to multiple robots and drones, which are capable of quickly scanning large areas, and can also clean or inspect them. Khalil Al-Rahman Youssefi’s doctoral thesis focuses on developing new technologies that allow swarms of robots to fully map an area using a method known as ‘coverage exploration for robot swarms’.
