Recently, multiple organisations have disclosed how clusters of so-called “rogue” AI agents attempted to break into websites and online services, sometimes successfully.

The Policy Innovation Lab at Stellenbosch University’s School for Data Science and Computational Thinking, in collaboration with Google, has launched Students Think Innovation, a new competition challenging students to turn their ideas and expertise into solutions with real-world impact.

Co-organized by his life partner Ayesha Hassan, the Datasphere Initiative, and the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network, the online gathering provided a warm, open space to hold grief, share laughter, and reflect on a figure whose impact reached every corner of the digital world.

Die Entscheidung im Exzellenzwettbewerb von Bund und Ländern ist gefallen: Die Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU) erhält keinen Zuschlag in der Förderlinie Exzellenzuniversitäten. Sie verspricht Entlastung, unkomplizierte Verfahren, mehr Zeit für komplexe Fälle und eine unvoreingenommenere, „blinde“ Rechtsprechung durch die Reduktion menschlicher Fehleinflüsse.

Professor Jarugu Narasimha Moorthy hat sich um den Aufbau der institutionellen Zusammenarbeit zwischen der Universität Würzburg und dem Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram (IISER TVM) verdient gemacht. Außerdem hat er bedeutende Beiträge zur supramolekularen Materialchemie geleistet, insbesondere zum Aufbau poröser organischer Festkörper und zu photochromen und emittierenden organischen Materialien.

Die Meldung der Weltorganisation für Tiergesundheit (WOAH) vom 31. August 2026 markiert einen besorgniserregenden Wendepunkt: Der Nachweis der invasiven Tropilaelaps-Milbe in der Türkei bestätigt, dass dieser gefährliche Parasit die Grenze zu Europa erreicht hat. Ursprünglich in Asien beheimatet, hat sich die Milbe über Russland und Georgien scheinbar unaufhaltsam nach Westen ausgebreitet. Für die Westliche Honigbiene (Apis mellifera) stellt dies eine existenzielle Bedrohung dar, die weit über die bekannten Gefahren durch die Varroa-Milbe hinausgeht.
