Premios Latinoamérica Verde distingue a egresado de la U. de Chile

Mauricio Lemus, ingeniero forestal de la Casa de Bello, ganó el certamen que premia a las mejores iniciativas medioambientales de Latinoamérica en la categoría "Bosques y Flora". "Oasificación" es el nombre del proyecto que ha logrado restaurar ecosistemas mediante técnicas de recolección de aguas y recuperación de suelos degradados por la sequía, la sobreexplotación y los incendios.

Presidenta de la Academia Chilena de Ciencias y Profesora Titular de la Facultad de Medicina, Cecilia Hidalgo, la primera mujer en adjudicarse el Premio Nacional de Ciencias Naturales en 2006, tiene una reconocida trayectoria en el mundo científico, que trasciende las paredes del laboratorio y el trabajo en investigación. Su liderazgo en este ámbito ha sido también destacado en la promoción de la ciencia, siendo una de las voces que pujó por la creación del ministerio del ramo y que ha insistido en los últimos años sobre la urgencia de aumentar la inversión científica en Chile.
