Second UNESCO award for the Compentence Center for Sustainable Development

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the German UNESCO Commission jointly awarded 100 exemplary educational initiatives from all over Germany on 20 November in Berlin. 55 learning venues, 36 networks and nine municipalities are examples of how sustainability can be systematically anchored in the German education landscape.

District Court rules for government in Wikimedia Foundation’s mass surveillance case against the NSA

Update: On February 14, 2020, the Wikimedia Foundation filed a notice of appeal in this case before the Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. We respectfully disagree with the District Court’s ruling, and believe that information in the public domain shows that the NSA is using Upstream surveillance to copy and search Wikimedia’s communications. We look forward to presenting our arguments to the Fourth Circuit.

Dezember fand am Institut für Informations-, Telekommunikations- und Medienrecht (ITM) in Münster das Kickoff-Meeting des vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung geförderten interdisziplinären Projekts „GOAL – Governance von und durch Algorithmen“ statt. Dabei gingen die Vertreter der verschiedenen Partneruniversitäten auf ihre Rolle im Projekt ein und präsentierten die verschiedenen Blickwinkel und Ansätze ihrer Fachrichtung zu dem Thema.
