As part of the international conference entitled ‘Staundend leben, lesen und schreiben – Lesespuren und Textkonstellationen in Ingeborg Bachmanns Werk’, the Ingeborg Bachmann Reading Room (Z.2.10) on Level 2 of the University Library was officially inaugurated.
Alongside the conference organisers, Anke Bosse and Hajnalka Nagy, representatives from the Rectorat’s office and the Library Director, Lydia Zellacher, Heinz Bachmann once again had words of praise for the University of Klagenfurt’s efforts regarding the work and library of his sister, the important Austrian and internationally known writer Ingeborg Bachmann. In a symbolic gesture, Sheila and Heinz Bachmann cut the velvet ribbon, thereby opening the newly named reading room.
The reading room houses the Ingeborg Bachmann Library as well as the media library, the periodicals section and the University Library’s lounge. The space is designed as a shared space and, in addition to its function as a communal area, is frequently used for various events.
