28th Nordic Academy of Management Conference

Lena ZöhrerFrom 13 to 15 August 2026, Professor Heiko Breitsohl and Senior Scientist Lena Zöhrer attended the 28th Nordic Academy of Management (NFF) Conference at Aarhus University in Denmark.

The conference brought together around 350 researchers and provided an opportunity to exchange ideas on current topics in management research. Together with international colleagues, Heiko Breitsohl co-organized the track “Workplace attendance behavior”, which focused on current research questions related to workplace attendance behavior, particularly presenteeism and absenteeism.
As part of this track, Lena Zöhrer presented the study “Rewarded for Working While Ill? How Sickness Presenteeism and Sickness Absenteeism Affect Career Events”, which she is conducting together with Heiko Breitsohl and Sascha Ruhle (Tilburg University, the Netherlands). The study examines how managers perceive employees’ presenteeism – that is, working despite illness – and how these perceptions influence their decisions regarding employees’ promotions or dismissals.
The conference also provided an opportunity for academic exchange with international colleagues, as well as for discussing new research ideas and future collaborations.
